Statement from the Ministry of National Defense regarding the lieutenants' sword oath

A new development has occurred regarding the lieutenants who drew their swords and took an oath after the Military Academy graduation ceremony, chanting "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal."

According to information obtained from MSB sources, an investigation has been launched into the events that took place at the Military Academy. Based on the findings of the investigation, necessary actions will be taken against personnel who have intent, fault, negligence, or responsibility within the scope of disciplinary regulations.

The statement from MSB sources is as follows:

"First of all, on August 30-31, when we celebrated our Victory Day and the Turkish Armed Forces Day with great enthusiasm, we also held the graduation ceremonies of our Military Academies with the attendance of our President.

In addition to the joy of graduation from our Military Academies, the apple of our army's eye, which has a deep-rooted history, we also experienced the pride of having 3 female students graduate from our Military Academies as top of their class for the first time in our country's and world history.

However, some footage was reflected to the public after the Military Academy Flag Handover and Graduation Ceremony.

The footage in question is being attempted to be taken out of context and pulled into completely different channels and dimensions through various interpretations and evaluations, especially on social media, creating sterile debates detached from reality.

In our Turkish Armed Forces, whose priority is to maintain established discipline; there should not be the slightest doubt that no act, event, or situation contrary to discipline will be tolerated.

The incident in question is also being investigated in every aspect. Based on the findings of the investigation, necessary actions will be taken against personnel who have intent, fault, negligence, or responsibility within the scope of disciplinary regulations.

Therefore, the public should be at ease regarding this matter and should not give credence to those who produce manipulation through this footage according to their own agendas.

In this period when our glorious army is performing various difficult tasks with superior effort, from counter-terrorism to international missions;

- It is clear that posts, comments, and evaluations aimed at disrupting the unity and solidarity of our country,

- And at undermining our Turkish Armed Forces, which emerged from the bosom of its nation, and creating a negative perception in the public, will not benefit anyone.

Indeed, criminal complaints have been filed against individuals identified as attempting to undermine/belittle/discredit our Ministry, our Turkish Armed Forces, and our personnel in the public eye by using profanity/slander/threats and insults against our Ministry, our Turkish Armed Forces, and our personnel on social media platforms, taking this event as an opportunity.

The national, spiritual, and professional values of our Turkish Armed Forces are a whole, and trying to separate them is dangerous.

The lieutenants who graduated from our Military Academies, which train officers for our heroic army, will also;

- Without ever compromising on discipline, which is the essence of the military profession, and our national, spiritual, and professional values,

- Make significant contributions to our Armed Forces as officers who will serve our nation and state even under the most difficult conditions.

As a result, our Turkish Armed Forces;

- Bound by the Constitution and laws,

- Within the framework of our national, spiritual, and professional values,

- Guided by Atatürk's principles and revolutions, as well as reason and science,

- Are at the command of their nation and at their post, in line with the directives of our President and the orders of their superiors and commanders."
