Statement from Naci Görür following the earthquake in Bingöl
A magnitude 4 earthquake occurred in Bingöl. Seismologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür stated that the earthquake did not occur on the East Anatolian Fault (DAF), but rather on the Bitlis-Zagros Thrust Zone, which is under stress from that fault.
According to AFAD data, a magnitude 4 earthquake occurred in the Genç district of Bingöl at 00:03. The tremor was recorded at a depth of 7 kilometers.
No negative incidents have been reported due to the earthquake.
Following the earthquake, Bingöl Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta stated, "Field scans are being conducted together with our AFAD teams, our gendarmerie, and our village headmen, and developments in the field are being closely monitored."

Seismologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a post on his social media account following the earthquake.
Prof. Dr. Görür explained that the earthquake did not occur on the East Anatolian Fault (DAF).
Görür stated that the earthquake occurred on the Bitlis-Zagros Thrust Zone, which is under stress from this fault.
Naci Görür said, "Since this zone is loaded with stress, such earthquakes are expected."
