Statement from Numan Kurtulmuş regarding the knife attack at Fatih Mosque: 'If this is an organized attack...'
Making a statement regarding the knife attack at Fatih Mosque, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş stated, "If this is an organized attack, Turkey will not allow it. If there is an attempt to stir up trouble in Turkey, we will not permit it."
Yesterday (January 8) at around 19:15, Ömer S. entered Fatih Mosque and began shouting slogans, then carried out a knife attack on Fatih Mosque Imam Galip Usta and Bilal Erdem, who had approached to warn him.
ATTACKER CAPTURED
While Imam Galip Usta and Bilal Erdem, who were seriously injured in the attack, were taken to the hospital, the attacker was captured and taken into custody.
STATEMENT FROM NUMAN KURTULMUŞ
A statement regarding the incident came from Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş.
Kurtulmuş used the following expressions;
"IF THIS IS AN ORGANIZED ATTACK..."
"These developments in the recent period show and teach us that we must be in much greater unity and solidarity, and that we must act with much more awareness and by planning for the future.
If this is an organized attack, Turkey will not allow it. If there is an attempt to stir up trouble in Turkey, we will not permit it."
