Statement from Qandil: 'Öcalan must actively organize the process' – New developments following visits
Murat Karayılan, a so-called leader of the terrorist organization PKK in Qandil, has made a new statement regarding the process following the visits made by the DEM Party to the MHP and AKP.
The process, which began on October 22 when MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli addressed Abdullah Öcalan during the MHP parliamentary group meeting, saying, "If the isolation of the terrorist leader is lifted, let him come and speak at the DEM Party group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Let him shout that terrorism has completely ended and the organization has been liquidated," and called for him to "benefit from the right to hope" under this condition, continues with mutual statements.
Following Öcalan's call announced on February 27 for "the PKK to convene its congress and dissolve itself," and after the recent inter-party meetings held by the DEM Party with the MHP and AKP, a statement has also come from Qandil. Murat Karayılan, a so-called leader of the terrorist organization PKK in Qandil, stated in his remarks to Sterk TV, in summary, that the congress "can only be convened and brought to a conclusion through decisions taken by Öcalan," adding, "The state must understand us correctly."
Explaining that the Nevruz celebrations to be held on March 21 are being met during a historical process and that the celebrations in Diyarbakır should be larger than those in 2013, the year of the failed "solution process," Karayılan said, "The demand for peace, solution, freedom, and democracy must be voiced in that area by a large crowd. The whole world should watch this great festival of freedom and democracy."
"ÖCALAN MUST ACTIVELY ORGANIZE THE PROCESS"
Stating that "the decision to convene a congress, dissolve the organization, and lay down arms is not an ordinary situation," Karayılan explained that "only Öcalan can bring the process to an end, and that Öcalan must actively organize the process so that no group is left out and everyone is convinced." Noting that their views regarding Öcalan's situation are not a "condition" but a "necessity for the wheels to turn," Karayılan stated, "For example, if a congress is held, Öcalan must be informed of all its stages and decisions taken, and must be able to respond."
The so-called leader of the terrorist organization PKK in Qandil, Karayılan, said, "Yes, perhaps he cannot come to the congress area and will participate from the outside; in this sense, he can also play a technical role, but delegations must go back and forth to him, he must give perspectives to the delegations and send them, and he must be able to speak separately with those who are not convinced."
"We believe in our leader's project and state that we will fully participate in it. In this case, necessary legal arrangements must be made and the path for our leader must be cleared," said Karayılan, while touching upon the possibility of the process being sabotaged, adding that "some wings from every segment, including the Kurdish side, might want to sabotage the process, and that there are many segments that desire the war in the Middle East to continue."
