Statement on 'return to Turkey' from Sedat Peker's lawyer! 'In the near future...'

Ersan Barkın, the lawyer for organized crime leader Sedat Peker, who is subject to an Interpol red notice, spoke about his client's situation.

Speaking on Sözcü TV, Barkın stated that legal obstacles must be removed for Peker to return to Turkey, noting that this process does not appear possible in the short term.

Barkın stated that there are 11 separate cases regarding the videos his client published on social media.

“Mr. Peker needs to provide a defense in order to determine whether the crime of slander was committed regarding what he said. When Mr. Peker returns to the country in the coming years, all of these cases will need to be examined and reviewed as factual matters.”

Speaking about the possibility of Sedat Peker's return to the country, Barkın said, “There is a red notice issued against him in two separate files. For this reason, it is not possible for him to return to Turkey or move to another place from the country where he is currently located. Such a step cannot be taken without the removal of legal obstacles. It is certain that a return is not possible in the near future. Because his cases are still ongoing,” he stated.
