Statement from ŞOK Market on Tanju Özcan: Did they file a complaint?
Following the arrest of Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan on allegations of forcibly extracting bribes from chain supermarkets to create a scholarship fund, a statement has been issued by ŞOK Marketler, one of the companies mentioned in the case.
Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan was detained as part of an investigation launched into allegations that he forcibly collected money from chain supermarkets operating in the city to create a scholarship fund for students.
Following prosecutorial procedures, Özcan was brought before a court, which issued an arrest warrant on charges of "extortion." It was reported that Özcan was subsequently sent to Sincan Prison.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL VISITED HIM IN SINCAN PRISON
Following the arrest decision, Özgür Özel visited Tanju Özcan at Sincan Prison on March 3.
Making statements after the visit, Özel addressed the chain supermarkets. In his statement, Özel said, "With God's permission, I will make them regret it. They will see our power that comes from consumption. They will see what it means to be a tool for a prosecutor who tries to put our friend, our brother, in prison so unjustly. We will see if they need that prosecutor or if they need us."
ŞOK MARKET ALLEGATION SURFACES
Allegations that some chain supermarkets had filed criminal complaints surfaced in the investigation file. One of the companies mentioned in these allegations was ŞOK Marketler.
One of the individuals who voiced this claim was journalist Zafer Şahin. In a post on February 28, Şahin alleged that ŞOK Marketler had also filed a criminal complaint as part of the investigation.
Şahin also stated that ŞOK Marketler Chairman of the Board Cengiz Solakoğlu is a relative of Sencer Solakoğlu, the CHP's Head of Agricultural and Forestry Policy Board.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE COMPANY
Following these allegations, an official statement was issued by ŞOK Marketler. In the statement sent by the company's corporate communications department, it was reported that no complaint had been filed against Tanju Özcan.
The company's statement included the following:
"There is no criminal complaint or grievance filed by ŞOK Marketler Ticaret A.Ş. or its executives within the scope of the investigation file in question. While our institution is closely following the processes mentioned in the investigation file, there is no legal action initiated by us regarding these matters."
