According to the statement from the municipality, requests regarding stray animals in the district had increased following the Animal Protection Law that came into effect on July 30. In this context, the dog, which was picked up from Zübeyde Hanım Neighborhood by the Sultangazi Municipality Veterinary Affairs Department on Monday, August 19, was brought to the shelter.
Animal lovers who visited the shelter at 12:00 were informed that the dog's pulse and respiration were stable, but the dog lost its life two hours later, around 14:00, as a result of a heart attack.
MUNICIPALITY CONDEMNS SMEAR CAMPAIGNS
The statement from the municipality emphasized that the incident occurred exactly as recorded in security camera footage and veterinary reports, and that various videos circulating on social media showing wounds and trauma do not reflect the truth. Furthermore, the burial of the dog was carried out in accordance with the request of the animal lovers. It was stated that the municipality condemns the smear campaigns being conducted.
