Pro-government writer Ferhat Murat made a post on his social media account targeting CHP Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan. Murat wrote that Özcan was gambling in Cyprus.

Murat used the following expressions in his post:

“Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan must be under stress due to the situation the CHP is in; he is relieving his stress in Northern Cyprus.

The photo is from the casino of the Concorde Hotel Bafra in Northern Cyprus, dated 17/08/2025 at 21:00.

He might have wanted to add the title ‘King of Casino-goers’ to his title of ‘Refugee Hunter’…”

Tanju Özcan, who did not remain indifferent to the post in question, responded via his social media account. While firmly rejecting the allegations, Özcan attacked Murat by making a "powdered sugar" jab.

Özcan's statement was as follows:

“What a stupid post.. I am on vacation with my wife and son.. don't jump on it like you've found treasure, you devil… there's no need for a photo from behind, I took photos with hundreds of people there.. we are not the ones who secretly snort powdered sugar and say ‘long live the chief’!!!”
