In a statement from the Coast Guard Command regarding the incident where a Greek Coast Guard boat rammed a fishing boat, it was stated: "On July 11, 2024, certain footage was released to the public by some media outlets and social media accounts under the headline 'Greek Elements Damaged a Fishing Boat off Gökçeada'. 

Detailed information regarding the subject is as follows: Upon the report that the Turkish-flagged fishing boat named 'Kızılelma-1', which was engaged in fishing activities off the Zürafa Lighthouse in the Gökçeada district of Çanakkale province, was harassed by a Greek Coast Guard element that approached it at close range and caused material damage to the fishing boat by ramming its front left side at 11:25 on July 11, 2024, 4 Coast Guard boats were immediately dispatched to the scene. 

During the arrival of the Turkish Coast Guard boats at the scene, it was observed that the Greek Coast Guard element had rapidly departed the area. Inspections conducted in the vicinity of the incident revealed that there were no Greek Coast Guard elements present, that the personnel on the fishing boat in question had sustained minor injuries due to glass shattered by the impact, and that there was material damage to the fishing boat. The boat was then towed to Gökçeada Port.

Investigations initiated regarding the incident are ongoing.

The Turkish Coast Guard Command continues to carry out its duty of protecting our rights and interests in our country's seas within Turkish maritime jurisdiction on a 24/7 basis," the statement said.
