Statement from the Gendarmerie General Command regarding allegations about the hotel fire in Bolu: Claims that the fire was not responded to

In a statement made by the Gendarmerie General Command regarding the matter, it was stated: "In news reports published in some media outlets on January 30, 2025, regarding the fire disaster that took place at the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, statements that do not reflect the truth were included, claiming that the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) teams stationed in the region were withdrawn from the area before the fire and did not intervene in the incident.

The Kartalkaya Gendarmerie Station Command is stationed at the aforementioned Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, and a total of two JAK teams, consisting of one JAK team belonging to the Bolu Provincial Gendarmerie Command and one JAK team assigned from the Gendarmerie Commando Special Public Security Command (JÖAK) to support the winter season, are currently ready in the region on a 24/7 basis.

Following the report of the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel on January 21, 2025, two JAK teams intervened in the incident within 8 minutes and began rescue operations; to support the search and rescue activities, one helicopter and one JAK team from JÖAK, one Helicopter Air-to-Ground/Extraction Team (HATU), and two Gendarmerie Public Security Commando teams from the Bolu Provincial Gendarmerie Command were immediately dispatched to the region.

The unrealistic allegations put forward regarding the news in question are aimed at misleading the public and negatively affecting the reputation of the Gendarmerie General Command."
