Statement from the lawyer of Mahir Polat, who was referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine
Erkam Erdem, the lawyer for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, shared details of his meeting with Polat on his social media account.
Mahir Polat, the Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and Secretary General of the Union of Historical Towns, who was arrested as part of the 'City Consensus' operation targeting the İBB, has been referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine.
Polat appeared before the committee around 11:00 AM, and his examinations lasted approximately one hour. Following the procedures, Polat was sent back to Silivri Prison.
"WE EXPECT THE NECESSARY ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN"
Mahir Polat's lawyer, Erkam Erdem, shared his meeting with Polat on his social media account with the following words:
"Mahir Bey's examination at the Council of Forensic Medicine was completed today. In our meeting with him, he stated that the transfer process went smoothly, that handcuffs were not used in most places, and that the correctional officers and the gendarmerie treated him very kindly, for which he is grateful.
He also expressed that seeing the fair attitude of the doctors who performed the examination at the institution increased his belief in the justice of the decision they will make.
At this stage, we expect the institution to prepare a final report without further delay and for the necessary actions to be taken accordingly."
