Statement from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security regarding miners who have not received their wages

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security following reports in some media outlets and social media platforms regarding the Doruk Madencilik ve Elektrik Üretim San. Tic. Today, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Faruk Özçelik, with the participation of worker representatives, and solution-oriented evaluations were conducted," it was said.

The statement included the following: "In the evaluations made, within the scope of the audit and inspection activities carried out by our Guidance and Inspection Presidency in line with the applications submitted to our Ministry regarding the workplace in question; it was emphasized that in 2023, a total administrative fine of 3 million 284 thousand 946 liras was imposed on the employer in question due to the non-payment of individual receivables arising from the Collective Labor Agreement; in the audits for 2025, it was determined that the receivables arising from the collective labor agreement were not paid and wages were not paid regularly, and in this context, a total administrative fine of 20 million 292 thousand 142 liras was imposed on the employer; and in the examinations conducted in 2026, it was determined that a portion of the wage receivables belonging to the workers had not been paid. Furthermore, it was reported to our Ministry by company officials that 36 million liras of the aforementioned receivables were deposited into the workers' accounts today, and that the remaining amount is committed to be paid in full by the employer within the coming week. All necessary administrative procedures regarding the full and timely payment of worker receivables and the implementation of legislation related to working life are being carried out with determination. If the employer side fails to fulfill its commitments, the necessary administrative sanctions will continue to be applied decisively. The process is being closely monitored by our Ministry," the statement read.
