Statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the visit to the VAR Center
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced that Minister Osman Aşkın Bak's visit to the VAR Center following the FIFA Badge Ceremony was related to the operation of the system and was not an investigation into any specific match or referee decision.
The following statement was issued in a written release from the Ministry of Youth and Sports:
"Following the FIFA Badge Ceremony held at the Turkish Football Federation on Tuesday, February 10, with the participation of our Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak, the VAR Center was visited as part of the program.
During the visit, a general briefing on the operation of the system was provided by referee instructors and technical experts on duty; the working principles of VAR technology were explained through sample footage from various domestic and international matches.
The visit in question does not carry the purpose of an investigation or evaluation regarding any match or referee decision.
Evaluations attempting to be created outside of this framework in the public eye do not reflect the truth."
