Statement from the SSI regarding 'widow's pension' news
The Social Security Institution (SSI) issued a statement regarding news reports on the widow's pension, stating, "Both women and men can receive the widow's pension. There is no distinction between men and women for a surviving spouse in the legislation of the SSK, Bağ-Kur, and the Pension Fund prior to 2008, and there is no new regulation on this matter."
In the statement made on the institution's social media account, it was noted that if the deceased spouse, who was receiving a pension from the SSK, had at least 5 years of insurance and 900 premium days (1800 days with service borrowing), the surviving widow or widower can receive the pension provided they do not remarry, even if they are working or retired.
