Statement from YSK Chair Yener, who rejected CHP's Hatay application
Ahmet Yener, the chair of the Supreme Election Council (YSK), which reviews and decides on political parties' objections to local election results, made notable remarks while the rejection of the CHP's Hatay application was on the agenda.
YSK Chair Ahmet Yener made a special statement to the Taksim Meydanı program broadcast on tv100.
Here are the highlights from the statements of YSK Chair Yener, who spoke to Millet News Agency Editor-in-Chief Sinan Burhan:
“THERE IS NO QUESTION OF POLITICAL INTERFERENCE”
"I had a meeting with YSK Chair Mr. Ahmet Yener today. Ahmet Yener is a respected statesman. I asked him, 'Mr. Chair, what do you pay attention to when making these decisions?' He said, 'We have no connection to politics. We look at the law, we look at technical data, we look at information and documents.'"
“Articles 128, 129, and 130 of Election Law No. 298 are clear. At this point, the objection procedures are defined. There is the right to object first to the district election board, then to the provincial election board, then to the Supreme Election Council, and also in extraordinary circumstances,” he said.
“There is no question of politics interfering with us in any way outside of the documents. We are bound by our conscience and the law. We will definitely act according to the documents,” he said.
