Statement of the individual who insulted Atatürk has emerged
Bülent Yılmaz, who hurled insults at Atatürk, caused a major backlash on social media and was subsequently arrested. Yılmaz's statement has now emerged.
Bülent Yılmaz, who took his cat to a veterinary clinic, made insults against Atatürk and was taken into custody. It has emerged that in his statement, Yılmaz claimed he was under the influence of medication he was taking due to a surgery. Following his statement, Yılmaz was referred to court and arrested.
OBTAINED A MEDICAL REPORT FOR ASSAULT AND FILED A COMPLAINT
Bülent Yılmaz made insults against Atatürk in Adana, targeting a portrait hanging on the wall at the veterinary clinic where he had taken his cat. At that moment, veterinary technician Melek Nida Şahin, who was disturbed by the profanity, ignored the insults and sat at her desk. After Şahin warned Yılmaz, a verbal argument ensued between them. Following the incident, Şahin obtained a medical report for assault and filed a complaint.
CLAIMED TO BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MEDICATION
Yılmaz, who was taken into custody, claimed that he loves Atatürk very much. In his statement, Yılmaz alleged that he was under the influence of medication he was using due to a surgery.
Stating that he was remorseful, Yılmaz was arrested by the court to which he was referred following his statement.
"WHEN HE SAW I WAS RECORDING, HE CONTINUED TO CURSE AT ATATÜRK"
Speaking after the incident, Melek Nida Şahin stated that Bülent Yılmaz first argued with his wife and then cursed at her, saying, "He started making generalizations about women. His daughter came to me and said, 'My father usually loves animals very much, but he is a bit irritable. That's why he is acting like this,' and I said these were normal things. At that moment, he turned toward me and started cursing, saying, 'Isn't she a woman, they are all the same.' I got angry but ignored it and sat at my desk. There was an Atatürk portrait on my desk. He looked at the portrait and then said to me, 'Are you a Kemalist?' I said 'Yes.' When he started talking inappropriately and making insults and curses about Atatürk, I warned him. Then he increased the intensity of his profanity.
When I reacted by saying, 'You cannot insult Atatürk here,' he said, 'I can speak however I want wherever I want.' We asked him to leave the clinic. When he started directing his profanity at me personally, I started recording.
When he saw that I was recording, he continued his curses against Atatürk and then assaulted me and left. After the incident, I went to the hospital, obtained a medical report for assault, and filed a complaint. I am leaving him to the 'law.' From now on, let no one have the audacity to insult Atatürk and honorable Turkish women," she said.
