Statement on allegations that Ferdi Zeyrek received money during the election period: Campaign coordinator speaks out

Detained Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek has alleged that he made payments of 1 million 950 thousand euros and 200 thousand dollars to Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who passed away last year following an accident, during the election period under the instructions of Özgür Özel. 

Communicator Önder İnce, who managed Zeyrek's campaign, asked, "If this much money was given, why did Mayor Ferdi cover the campaign expenses out of his own pocket?"

İnce further stated, "We thought you would not stoop so low as to risk attacking and smearing Chairman Özgür Özel through a person who has passed away and cannot respond." 

The message İnce shared on social media is as follows:

"I managed Mayor Ferdi's election campaign. If this much money was given, why did we conduct the campaign without even having an Election Coordination Center! Why did we hold all our meetings at Mayor Ferdi's architectural office or at the CHP Manisa Provincial Headquarters? Why didn't we have election buses or vehicles?

Why couldn't we make media purchases! Why did Mayor Ferdi cover the campaign expenses out of his own pocket? Why did Mayor Ferdi complete the entire campaign with a 2015 model vehicle?

Why did I use my own vehicle throughout the entire campaign process, and why did I even pay for my own fuel? Why did everyone, including the volunteers working for the campaign, pay for their own meals?

When we went out into the field, why did the Members of Parliament, the Provincial Chairman, and the executives spend money out of their own pockets? We thought you would not stoop so low as to risk attacking and smearing Chairman Özgür Özel through a person who has passed away and cannot respond. You must have so much to lose that you would even stoop to this."
