Statement on 'good conduct reduction' from Yılmaz Tunç

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç has announced that new regulations will be introduced in the fight against violence against women following the femicides that have deeply shaken Turkey.

Stating that they are working to eliminate the perception of impunity in the judicial system, Minister Tunç announced that the good conduct reduction will be reviewed.

IMPORTANT REGULATIONS WILL BE MADE

Tunç answered the questions as follows:

"All issues such as the effectiveness of the criminal justice system, probation, and the perception of impunity will be brought to a conclusion. These issues will come to the Parliament's agenda. The 9th judicial package is currently on the Parliament's agenda. We will continue our determination to further increase sanctions regarding crimes committed in internet media.

GOOD CONDUCT REDUCTION WILL BE REVIEWED

We will make regulations, especially in criminal justice, to make the fight against those who disturb the peace of society more effective. The perception of impunity will be eliminated, and the good conduct reduction will be reviewed.

Violence against women is our red line. We had increased the penalties for crimes committed against women. We will continue our efforts to ensure that these penalties are applied more effectively."
