The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the social media platform X's (Twitter) artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, due to posts containing insults.
The following statement was made by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the matter:
"Following Grok's insults directed at Atatürk, our President, and the Prophet, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared a report ex officio and applied to the criminal judgeship of peace for an access ban decision; the relevant court issued an access ban and sent it to the BTK (Information and Communication Technologies Authority) to be forwarded to the access provider."

X's lawyer, Gönenç Gürkaynak, shared the following on his social media account after the investigation into Grok: "Even though I am a lawyer who has been working on AI regulation for 16 years and X is one of my clients as a private attorney, even I could not have predicted that one day Grok would need to be defended as the direct subject of a criminal investigation. The concept of surprise no longer exists."
