Statement on Maduro from Cevdet Yılmaz! 'What is happening in Venezuela...'

The US launched an attack on Venezuela yesterday. As a result of the military operation, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were abducted and taken to the US.

While the US attack on Venezuela dominated the agenda, a statement on the matter came from the Presidential Palace.

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, in a statement on his X account, included the following remarks: "In the crisis occurring in Venezuela, as the Republic of Turkey, we will continue to stand by international law, respect for national will, and the people of Venezuela; we will continue to advocate for stability through dialogue with all parties."

In the opening lines of his statement, Yılmaz also alluded to the remarks made by CHP leader Özgür Özel without naming him.

The full text of Yılmaz's statement is as follows:

"Foreign policy is a specialized field managed with reason, based on our national interests and a synthesis of principles and facts, rather than according to the delusions, daily approaches, and irresponsible statements of the main opposition.

Leadership is always important. It is even more important and vital in periods when uncertainties, power politics, and chaos prevail in the global system.

The experienced and resolute leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is a great asset during the difficult period our world and region are going through. We saw this reality in the crises experienced in the context of Syria, Ukraine, and Gaza.

In the crisis occurring in Venezuela, as the Republic of Turkey, we will continue to stand by international law, respect for national will, and the people of Venezuela; we will continue to advocate for stability through dialogue with all parties."
