Statement on reports that 'the number of miners under the rubble is five times the official figure'
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) has announced that the claim appearing in some media outlets that "the number of miners trapped under the rubble in Erzincan is five times the official figure" is not true.
In a statement made on the center's social media account, the following expressions were included:
"The claim appearing in some media outlets that 'the number of miners trapped under the rubble in Erzincan is five times the official figure' is not true.
Following the landslide that occurred at the gold mine site in İliç, Erzincan, it has been determined that 9 out of 667 workers employed at the mine site have not yet been reached.
Search and rescue efforts regarding the missing workers are continuing meticulously.
Please do not give credence to statements made by anyone other than official institutions and authorities."
