Statement on snow holiday from Istanbul Governor Gül

The General Directorate ofMeteorology's(MGM) warningswere followed by an increase in the intensity of cold weather across Istanbul.

Following warnings from AKOM and the Istanbul Governorship, snowfall began inmany partsof the city during the evening hours.

The snow, which is particularly effective in higher altitudes, was observed to be falling heavily in Silivri, Büyükçekmece, and Beylikdüzü. The area

around the Bosphorus also sawAdditionally, in Fatih, Eyüpsultan, Bayrampaşa, Esenler, Sultangazi, Bahçelievler, Avcılar, Esenyurt, Beylikdüzü, Arnavutköy and Silivri, the precipitation is having an effect.

ARE SCHOOLS CLOSED IN ISTANBUL?

Following the snowfall, December 31 Wednesdaywhether schools in Istanbul will be closed has become a subject of curiosity.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül responded to the question,"Will schools be closed in Istanbul tomorrow?"

Governor Gül stated that no snowfall that would negatively affect education has been detected, he said.

Davut Gül included the following statements in a post on his social media account:

"The snowfall observed in some parts of our city is not at a level that would negatively affect educationis not. According to meteorological data,the precipitation is expected toend within approximately one hour.

In the event of anydevelopments, we willinform you immediately."
