Statement on 'surname' from CHP's Nazlıaka: 'An evaluation will be conducted within the Ministry'
CHP Deputy Chair Nazlıaka announced that a new evaluation regarding the surname regulation will be conducted within the Ministry.
A new development has occurred regarding the surname regulation included in the legislation known to the public as the 9th Judicial Package. The article stipulating that a woman could not use her maiden name alone after marriage has been removed from the judicial package. Accordingly, a woman will be able to use her maiden name alone after marriage.
CHP Deputy Chair Aylin Nazlıaka stated, "We have received the news regarding the removal of the surname regulation from the 9th Judicial Package. According to the information we received this morning, a new evaluation will be conducted within the Ministry regarding the surname imposition."
