Statement on the claim that 'Turkey continues to trade with Israel'

The DMM issued a statement regarding the claim that appeared in some media outlets on the subject.

"The claim that 'according to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, Turkey continues to trade with Israel' is not true. The Republic of Turkey halted all export and import transactions with Israel, covering all products, on May 2, 2024." The statement included the following:

"As a continuation of its policies aimed at stopping Israel's attacks, Turkey first slowed down trade with Israel after October 7, as can be seen from the monthly trade figures. Subsequently, as of April 9, 2024, Turkey halted exports to Israel for 1,019 different products across 54 groups. Since May 2, 2024, there have been no customs declarations registered for exports from our country to Israel, nor have there been any shipments arriving in our country from Israel. The customs system is closed to Israel. Export and import figures are also published transparently every month by the Turkish Statistical Institute.

On the other hand, shipments approved by the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy and intended for the needs of the Palestinian territories are carried out under the control of the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy and upon confirmation that they are destined for Palestine. The Palestinian Ministry of National Economy has also stated on numerous occasions that these goods are used exclusively by Palestine."
