Statement on Yavaş from CHP's legal affairs chief Çiftçi: 'An attempt to create a perception'
Following the request for authorization to launch an investigation into Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and his chief of staff, a series of statements have come from the CHP front. Gül Çiftçi, the CHP Deputy Chair responsible for legal affairs, also made a statement regarding the development.
As the 'concert' investigation into the Ankara Municipality continues, a notable development occurred in the evening hours. It has emerged that, as part of the expansion of the investigation, authorization has been requested to launch an investigation into ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş and his chief of staff.
Following this development, numerous figures from the CHP stated that this step was political.
A statement regarding this investigative step was also made by the party's Deputy Chair responsible for legal affairs, Gül Çiftçi.
Çiftçi made the following statement via her social media account:
"The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requesting authorization from the Ministry of Interior to investigate our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş is a new phase of judicial pressure.
There is neither a legally sound justification nor any concrete finding of public loss. Despite this, the perception that is being attempted to be created with the 'investigation authorization' request targets the honest, transparent, and waste-ending municipal governance in Ankara.
This 'political campaign' carried out through the request for investigation authorization is directed not only at Mansur Yavaş but at the will of the people of Ankara.
We will stand by our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş's stance that prioritizes public interest and the will of the people of Ankara to the very end."
