Statements revealed in dispute between Deniz Akkaya and her landlord

In an incident that took place in the Kartepe district of Kocaeli, the dispute between former model and presenter Deniz Akkaya and her landlord, Mustafa Kürşat Akcebe, has turned into a legal process. Mutual allegations and accusations regarding the incident were reflected in the parties' statements.

REASON FOR THE DISPUTE: TOILET MALFUNCTION

The incident began when Akkaya moved into the house owned by Akcebe in the Maşukiye neighborhood of Kartepe on June 9. The dispute, which arose due to a toilet malfunction in the house, escalated the tension. Following the argument, Deniz Akkaya obtained a restraining order against Akcebe. However, Akkaya, who refused to leave the house, returned to the property. Upon this, Nihan Akcebe, the other co-owner of the house, filed a complaint on the grounds that their entry into the residence was being blocked. With the intervention of police teams, Deniz Akkaya was detained on charges of 'violation of residential immunity' and was subsequently released.

AKKAYA'S ALLEGATIONS OF HARASSMENT AND TENANCY

According to the statement Deniz Akkaya gave at the Kocaeli Courthouse, she moved into the house as a tenant and reached a verbal agreement with Mustafa Kürşat Akcebe for a monthly rent of 25,000 TL. Akkaya claimed that a written lease agreement was not made at the landlord's request. Alleging that Akcebe tried to evict her and physically intervened following a sewage malfunction, Akkaya stated that she witnessed drugs, weapons, and a hand grenade in the house and that she was threatened. She also stated that the key to her room was taken from her, and that Akcebe walked around in his underwear from time to time, and finally, she filed a complaint alleging that he committed more advanced harassment.

“I DID NOT MAKE A RENTAL AGREEMENT, I ONLY HELPED”

Mustafa Kürşat Akcebe, in his statement, said that he and Akkaya have known each other for about 30 years, and that Akkaya asked for his help to write a book and stay outside of Istanbul for a while. Akcebe stated that he was only hosting Akkaya and that there was no rental relationship or contract between them. Stating that the ground floor was given to Akkaya, who arrived on June 9 with about 70 boxes of belongings, entirely for the purpose of helping, Akcebe expressed that they received constant complaints during the sewage malfunction, which resulted in the escalation of the argument between them.

RESPONSE TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND VIOLENCE ALLEGATIONS

Akcebe categorically denied the allegations of harassment and violence directed at him. He defended himself by saying, “I never walked around the garden in briefs. I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt that day. I did not say there was a hand grenade or a weapon left by my father in the house. I do not use drugs. Deniz Hanım had the key to the room she was staying in; I did not have the key.” Claiming that Akkaya slandered him, Akcebe requested a restraining order for himself and asked for his belongings remaining in the house to be retrieved.
