'Statute of limitations' explanation for Hulusi Akar's daughter's diploma: Lateral transfer questioned

Journalist Barış Terkoğlu shared the question asked to CİMER on his X account.

THE LATERAL TRANSFER OF HULUSİ AKAR'S DAUGHTER ŞULE AKAR

Between 2000 and 2002, Hulusi Akar served as the head of the Plans and Principles Division at the Allied Forces Southern Europe Command in Naples, Italy, with the rank of brigadier general.

During this time, his daughter, Şule Akar, was studying biological sciences at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.

Akar was promoted to major general on August 29, 2002, and returned to Turkey as the commander of the Turkish Military Academy.

One year later, Hulusi Akar applied to Hacettepe University on his daughter's behalf to utilize the rights granted to the children of public officials serving abroad.

Although it was known that biology and medical school were not equivalent, Şule Akar was admitted to the Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine on July 16, 2003.

She graduated in 2009 and became a doctor.

She took the TUS (Medical Specialization Exam) and earned a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Ankara Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Women's Health Education and Research Hospital.

A citizen filed a complaint regarding the irregular procedure in Akar's education.

Following an inspector's investigation, a decision of 'statute of limitations' was issued.
