Storm hits the megacity: Şehir Hatları ferry services cancelled in Istanbul

Following warnings issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology in Istanbul, a severe storm that began in the early hours of the morning has impacted both the city and maritime traffic. The increasing intensity of the wind, particularly around the Bosphorus, has caused high waves at sea. While motorboat services operating between Beşiktaş and Kadıköy were completely cancelled for safety reasons, Şehir Hatları also suspended passenger services on numerous lines.

In a statement released by Şehir Hatları officials, it was noted that "due to adverse weather conditions, our services on the lines listed below will not be operational until further notice."

The cancelled services include the Sedef Island-Büyükada, Maltepe-Büyükada-Heybeliada-Burgazada-Kınalıada, and Adalar-Beşiktaş lines. Additionally, the 06:45 Kabataş-Kadıköy-Adalar-Bostancı, 07:15 Anadolu Hisarı-Eminönü, Bostancı-Moda-Karaköy-Kabataş, 09:25 Bostancı-Adalar Ring, and 09:00 Kabataş-Adalar services have also been temporarily suspended.

The storm, which continues to affect Istanbul, is expected to maintain its intensity in the coming hours. Citizens are advised to closely monitor weather developments and take current announcements into consideration.
