Strategic Move by the Organization of Turkic States: 'Turkic world map' to be created

The Organization of Turkic States continues its efforts in every field to achieve greater convergence with its member countries.

Within the scope of the organization, the 1st Meeting of Heads of Mapping Agencies of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Ankara with the participation of member countries.

At this meeting, which marks an important step toward unified and joint mapping efforts for the Turkic World, significant decisions were made to increase cooperation between member countries in the fields of civil and military cartography.

During the meeting, a declaration was signed envisioning the creation of a "single map of the Turkic world," and it was emphasized that this map would contain important information regarding strategically important transport routes, mineral resources, and critical state facilities.

According to the report in Haberrus, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS Sadi Jafarov stated that the newly established platform for Heads of Mapping Agencies would further strengthen cooperation among member countries.

It was reported that in addition to member countries, countries with observer status also participated in the meeting.

This development also carries great importance in terms of regional security and military planning.

In particular, the presence of military cartographers at the meetings brings with it interpretations that this information could be used strategically.

Experts, noting that Ankara is increasing its influence in the region through such efforts led by Turkey, a long-standing member of NATO, assess that the OTS will also obtain similar strategic data and increase its regional influence.
