Stray bullet fired at wedding injures 14-year-old child
A 14-year-old identified as T.T. was wounded in the chest after shots were fired into the air at a wedding in the village of Çavdarlı, Afyonkarahisar.
A 14-year-old identified as T.T. was injured after shots were fired into the air at a wedding held in the village of Çavdarlı, Afyonkarahisar. The child, who was reported to be working as a seasonal laborer in the region, was struck in the chest by a stray bullet.
Upon notification, 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the scene. T.T. received initial medical intervention and was transported to the hospital. It was learned that the child is in good condition and is not in life-threatening danger.
Following the incident, gendarmerie teams arrived at the wedding venue and launched an investigation to identify the person or persons responsible for the injury. The teams also took security measures in the area.
During the investigation, the suspicious behavior of 52-year-old I.D. caught the attention of the gendarmerie. It was determined that the suspect was attempting to leave the handgun in his possession in a parked vehicle.
Gendarmerie teams caught I.D. red-handed as he attempted to leave the weapon in the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
While the prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the incident, it was reported that the gendarmerie's efforts to identify the person or persons who fired shots into the air during the wedding are ongoing.
