Striking comment from Demirtaş on shopkeepers upset about Syrians leaving
Economist Özgür Demirtaş has made a striking comment regarding footage of shopkeepers who reacted to the prospect of Syrians returning to their home countries, claiming that they would lose cheap labor and that prices would increase.
As Syrians have begun to return to their home countries, shopkeepers facing the risk of losing the cheap labor they employ have expressed their reactions in various ways, while also not refraining from threatening that their products will become more expensive as a result.
While such footage has drawn significant backlash from users, especially on social media, economist Özgür Demirtaş also responded to the shopkeepers' objections.
Describing shopkeepers who react in this way as 'dispensable,' Demirtaş shared the following:

Companies that cannot survive without cheap labor:
1- Are dispensable companies.
2- They provide no benefit to the country or the nation.
On the contrary, they harm the country by lobbying politicians to create INFLATION.
