Striking explanation for turbulence incidents: It turns out this is one of the reasons!
While the recent increase in turbulence incidents continues to make headlines, Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that the main reason for the rise is global warming.
Recently, a Qatar Airways flight traveling from Doha to Dublin encountered turbulence over Turkey, resulting in injuries to 6 passengers and 6 crew members.
As reported by Burcu Purtul Uçar from Hürriyet, Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that vertical wind movements cause turbulence, emphasizing that global warming increases temperature differences in the atmosphere, making turbulence more severe and frequent.
He added that meteorological stations play an important role in increasing flight safety and that pilots are informed about turbulence forecasts before flights.
Şen stated that it is critically important for passengers to keep their seatbelts fastened for a safe flight.
