Following his contacts in the İdil district of Şırnak, CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his accompanying delegation visited the Cizre Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TSO). The delegation was welcomed in front of the building by Cizre TSO President Ömer Faruk Yıldırım and board members. After the welcome, Kılıçdaroğlu moved to the meeting hall in the TSO building and met with business people from Cizre.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that Cizre is an important trade point opening to the Middle East, saying, "In addition to its historical structure, Cizre is an important gateway to the Middle East. More than 1,400 vehicles pass through here every day. We need to increase employment and ensure development in a place with such heavy traffic. Turkey is in a strong position in this region. If Cizre is transformed into a free trade zone, our exports will increase and mutual trade will develop."
"The closure of facilities in the OIZ is unacceptable"
Touching upon the problems in the Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), Kılıçdaroğlu said, "In the examination I conducted before the visit, I saw that 9 facilities in the OIZ had closed. It is not right for existing facilities to close while we are expecting new ones to open. Furthermore, it is stated that there is a lack of infrastructure and natural gas in the OIZ. We will bring the issue to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) with our deputies and submit a parliamentary question," he said.
Following the statement, Kılıçdaroğlu and his entourage visited the Red Madrasa (Kırmızı Medrese), the Tomb of Prophet Noah, the Grand Mosque (Ulu Cami), and the Tomb of Mem u Zin. The delegation left the district after their inspections.
