Striking remarks from Mahmut Tanal on resignations within the AKP: 'The collapse cannot be prevented'

Five provincial chairs in the AKP have announced their resignations in the last two days.

Yesterday, Elazığ Provincial Chair Şerafettin Yıldırım and the Muğla Provincial Chair stepped down from their posts. Today, Adıyaman Provincial Chair Faruk Bülent Kablan, Niğde Provincial Chair Mustafa Özdemir, and Çanakkale Provincial Chair Ömer Faruk Göktürk announced their resignations.

Following the successive resignations within the AKP, CHP Istanbul MP Mahmut Tanal stated in a post on his social media account regarding the matter that even the slightest allegation within the CHP is kept on the agenda for days, whereas developments within the AKP are ignored, creating a double standard.

Tanal made the following statement:

"There are successive resignations, corruption investigations, and detentions within the AKP. From Muğla to Elazığ, from Adıyaman to Niğde, provincial chairs are leaving their seats one by one, and mayors are being detained on charges of extortion. In other words, the disintegration within the ruling party has reached a scale that can no longer be hidden.

But unfortunately, the media is silent…

While even the slightest allegation within the CHP remains on screens for hours, this political earthquake within the AKP is being ignored. This is a clear double standard that is incompatible not only with press ethics but also with the provisions of the Constitution that guarantee the freedom to receive information.

The public has a right to know the truth.

The collapse cannot be prevented by silence, by hiding headlines, or by blacking out screens.

The democratic order is built on transparency and accountability. The press is not the guardian of the ruling power, but the eyes and ears of the people.

The truths hidden today will emerge with a louder voice in the conscience of the public tomorrow."
