Striking 'Varank' claim from Fatih Altaylı: 'To take down Hasan Doğan...'
Journalist Fatih Altaylı reported on the behind-the-scenes discussions allegedly held at the AKP's Kızılcahamam retreat, where the party evaluated its defeat in the March 31 local elections. While Altaylı stated that the only minister likely to be replaced in the Cabinet is Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, he also made striking claims regarding former Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank.
Journalist Fatih Altaylı wrote a piece on the behind-the-scenes developments at the Kızılcahamam Retreat, where the AKP conducted its 'election post-mortem' following the March 31 local elections.
DEPUTIES COMPLAINED ABOUT MINISTERS!
In his article titled "Kızılcahamam rumors," Altaylı stated the following:
"The AKP's Kızılcahamam Retreat was mostly spent with discussions where deputies blamed the Ministers and tried to shift the burden of the election loss onto them. Whenever the deputies managed to say something to the President, they complained about the Ministers. The meetings generally turned into sessions for lecturing the Ministers.
VARANK-DOĞAN CLAIM
One of the behind-the-scenes stories that left its mark on Kızılcahamam was the efforts of former Minister Mustafa Varank to take down the President's Chief of Staff, Hasan Doğan. Varank also kept arguing that the party should take a tougher stance against the opposition, and that even if it meant losing votes, the party should not deviate from its core axis. Meanwhile, it did not go unnoticed that his relationship with the new Minister Kacır, whom I find capable, is not very good.
WILL THERE BE A CABINET RESHUFFLE?
President Erdoğan has no cabinet reshuffle in mind. The ministers will not change; they will all remain in their positions. The only minister with a possibility of being replaced is Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat. And that is not for political reasons, but for health reasons. It is said that multiple people in Ömer Bey's family are experiencing health problems and that Ömer Bolat has requested to be relieved of his duties to take care of them."
