Striking warning from Devlet Bahçeli: Turkey must not be a country swept away by the current of crisis

In his speech at the iftar program attended by mayors, Bahçeli stated that a new geopolitical fracture is being experienced in the world, saying, "Turkey must not be a country swept away by the current of crisis. Turkey is a state that determines the direction in the midst of crises."

Stating that the world is on the verge of a 'radical fracture,' Bahçeli said that current developments are not merely the sum of a few regional tensions. Bahçeli noted that power balances are being reshaped along a wide line extending from the Middle East to Eurasia and from there to the Pacific, stating that the internal resilience of states is being tested and a new geopolitical order is emerging.

Bahçeli used the expressions, “The wide fault line of the Middle East has been reactivated. The fire that started in Gaza has spread to Lebanon, cast a shadow over Syria, touched Iraq, and finally produced a tremor extending to the center of Iran.”

Touching upon developments in the region, Bahçeli said that the impact of the conflicts that started in Gaza is gradually expanding. Bahçeli said, "The fire that started in Gaza has spread to Lebanon, cast a shadow over Syria, touched Iraq, and finally produced a tremor extending to the center of Iran."

Stating that an uncontrolled weakening that could occur in Iran would directly affect the region, Bahçeli expressed that such a situation would not remain merely an internal matter for Tehran and could create a new belt of instability that could spread to surrounding countries.

Bahçeli emphasized that the picture Turkey is facing is not just a border crisis, noting that it is directly a matter of national security, border safety, and regional stability.

"An uncontrolled weakening or dissolution in Iran will not remain merely an internal matter for Tehran; it will carry the potential to produce a new belt of instability spreading in waves to surrounding countries. This is exactly the issue. The issue before Turkey is not a border crisis watched from afar. The picture Turkey is facing is directly a file of national security, border safety, and regional stability.

The Syrian experience has taught us by making us pay heavy prices that areas where state authority weakens quickly turn into fields for different armed groups, proxy elements, irregular migration movements, illegal economic networks, and foreign interventions.

Stormy times do not only produce risks; when read correctly, they also produce great opportunities. This is exactly Turkey's task: instead of being a country swept away by the current of crises, to be a central state that reflects its own historical weight into the field with strategic intelligence on the ground where new balances are being established.
