Student accidentally shoots and kills roommate in KYK dormitory
In Kilis, 19-year-old nursing student Mehmet Yasin Arı, who attended 7 Aralık University, was shot and killed at the Kartalbey KYK Student Dormitory when a gun his roommate B.Y. was 'playing with' discharged. B.Y. has been taken into custody, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
The incident occurred this morning at the Kartalbey KYK Student Dormitory located in the Mehmet Sanlı neighborhood of Kilis.
According to allegations, B.Y., a student staying at the Kartalbey KYK Student Dormitory, entered the dormitory with a handgun. B.Y. pointed the gun he was 'playing with' at his roommate, Mehmet Yasin Arı. At that moment, the gun discharged, wounding Mehmet Yasin Arı.
POLICE AND AMBULANCE ARRIVED
As Arı collapsed to the floor covered in blood, police and 112 emergency teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, medical teams determined that Mehmet Yasin Arı had lost his life.
Following the incident, B.Y., who shot his friend, was apprehended by police teams and referred to the courthouse. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
It was learned that Mehmet Yasin Arı was a student in the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Kilis 7 Aralık University.
