The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has issued a new circular just days before schools close. The decisions taken in the circular regarding graduation day events to be held in schools have dashed the dreams of millions of students.
According to the circular, graduation events must not be contrary to national, spiritual, moral, and cultural values. Ostentation will not be permitted at the ceremonies, and parental consent will be required for the events.
Celebrations will be organized in accordance with the students' developmental levels and pedagogical criteria; specifically, activities suitable for the age and developmental levels of children will be held at the preschool and primary education levels.
TO BE HELD WITHIN THE SCHOOL
According to the report by Türkiye Gazetesi, school administration, teachers, and parents will cooperate to protect students from all kinds of harmful habits, negative behaviors, and excesses, and to avoid waste during the events.
Activities that would place a burden on parents and schools will be avoided, and events will be held within the school.
Planned graduation events will be held after obtaining approval from provincial or district national education directorates.
Activities will be planned that enhance school culture, are student-centered, integrate the school with its environment, and ensure unity and integration among school staff.
