Successive resignations in Ankara following Mansur Yavaş

Following the announcement by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş that he is resigning from the CHP to continue his political path as an independent, successive resignation statements have come from district mayors in Ankara.

The mayors of Beypazarı, Kalecik, Güdül, Polatlı, Ayaş, Şereflikoçhisar, and Elmadağ have announced that they are leaving their CHP memberships.

Beypazarı Mayor Özer Kasap included the following statements in his resignation announcement:

“Dear fellow citizens,

At the point we have reached today, I am leaving my membership in the Republican People's Party (CHP) and submitting to the public's appreciation my decision to continue my political path independently.

On this path we set out on with our Mayor Mansur Yavaş, I stand behind the promises I made to my fellow citizens who trusted and supported me. In the district where I was elected, I will continue to serve with the same determination, resolve, and sense of responsibility, without making any distinctions, just as I have done until today.

For me, the priority is, as it was yesterday, to serve Beypazarı and my fellow citizens of Beypazarı today.

I would like to thank all my fellow travelers with whom I walked together under the roof of the Republican People's Party, with whom I struggled during the election process, and who stood by me, believed in me, and put their effort and heart into our work. I will always remember the effort and support of each of them with respect and gratitude.

My only goal in the coming period is to serve our Beypazarı and my fellow citizens of Beypazarı in the best way possible.

Following Kasap, Kalecik Mayor Satılmış Karakoç also announced that he has resigned from the CHP.

Karakoç's statement is as follows:

“Dear fellow citizens,

Politics is a long journey where one's commitment to people and values is tested. On this journey, it is sometimes necessary to make important decisions and stand behind the truths you believe in.

Since the first day we took office, we have made it our duty to serve in Kalecik without separating any of our fellow citizens due to their political views and without marginalizing anyone. Because we saw the votes given to us not just as political support, but as a trust given on behalf of Kalecik.

In line with the process we are going through and the developments that have occurred, I have decided to leave my membership in the Republican People's Party and continue my duty as Mayor independently.

I sincerely thank all my fellow travelers with whom we have walked under the same roof until today, who have contributed to this struggle, and who have been by our side. The beautiful days we lived together, the effort put in, and the bonds of affection established will always have a special place for me.

The foundation of the path we set out on with our Mayor Mansur Yavaş was the same understanding: To embrace people not for their political identities, but because they are human; to serve without discrimination, with justice, and by protecting the public's trust.

Today, I will continue to walk alongside Mayor Mansur on this path we set out on with him.

Positions may change, political conditions may change. However, our responsibility to Kalecik will not change.

From now on, as it was yesterday, I will continue to work as the Mayor of all our fellow citizens from every view, whether they voted for me or not.

Because for us, the real issue is not a political identity, but the love we feel for Kalecik and the trust our fellow citizens have placed in us.

DOĞANAY ALSO RESIGNED FROM CHP

Following the mayors of Beypazarı and Kalecik, Güdül Mayor Mehmet Doğanay also announced that he has resigned from the CHP.

Doğanay stated that the resignation decision was taken due to the current management approach and the "absolute nullity process" experienced, expressing that his decision was not directed against the history of the CHP, Atatürk's principles and revolutions, or Republican values.

Doğanay included the following statements in his announcement:

“I have decided to terminate my membership in the Republican People's Party, which was entrusted to us by our Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and which I have carried with great honor and responsibility for years, due to the current management approach and the absolute nullity process experienced today.

This decision of mine is not directed against the deep-rooted history of the Republican People's Party, Atatürk's principles and revolutions, or our Republican values. On the contrary, it is a requirement of my commitment to these values and my responsibility regarding my political stance.

In the coming period, I will continue to walk with our Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mr. Mansur Yavaş and serve our fellow citizens. I will continue my duty as the Mayor of Güdül with the responsibility of serving our fellow citizens and with loyalty to our district and the values of our Republic."

POLATLI MAYOR ALSO RESIGNED FROM CHP

Polatlı Mayor Mürsel Yıldızkaya has joined the mayors who resigned from the CHP in Ankara.

Yıldızkaya announced that he has left his CHP membership in line with the justifications pointed out in Mansur Yavaş's statement and that he will continue his political path independently together with Yavaş.

Yıldızkaya included the following statements in his announcement:

“My precious fellow citizens,

With your support and prayers; in line with the issues clearly expressed and the reasons pointed out in the statement of our Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mr. Mansur Yavaş, with whom I have always been happy to serve and walk together for our Ankara and Polatlı, I am leaving my membership in the Republican People's Party and submitting to the public's appreciation that we will continue our path and services politically as independents together with Mr. Mansur Yavaş.

AYAŞ MAYOR ALSO LEFT CHP

Ayaş Mayor İzzet Demircioğlu has joined the mayors who resigned from the CHP in Ankara.

Demircioğlu announced on his social media account that he has left his CHP membership and will continue his political path independently. Stating that he stands behind the promises he made to his fellow citizens who supported him on the path he set out on with Mansur Yavaş, Demircioğlu expressed that he will continue to serve Ayaş.

Demircioğlu used the following expressions in his announcement:

ŞEREFLİKOÇHİSAR MAYOR ALSO RESIGNED FROM CHP

Şereflikoçhisar Mayor Mustafa Koçak has joined the mayors who resigned from the CHP in Ankara.

In his statement, Koçak announced that he has resigned from his CHP membership, stating that the municipal understanding they drew for Ankara with Mansur Yavaş years ago has become a hope for the whole country.

Koçak used the following expressions in his announcement:

“The Mansur Yavaş Municipalism that we drew for Ankara with my Mayor Mansur years ago has become a hope for the whole country.

At the point reached, I am resigning from my membership in the Republican People's Party. Together with my elder brother Mansur Yavaş, we will continue to be a hope for Ankara and the country.”
