Suicide attempt on Çetinkaya Bridge in Samsun
In the Bafra district of Samsun, a young man who fell into depression after being separated from his wife and child attempted suicide on a bridge.
According to the information obtained, a report was made to the police during the night that a person might commit suicide on the Çetinkaya Bridge, which is located over the Kızılırmak River on the Samsun-Sinop highway.
Upon the report, police, medical, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene, and support was requested from Samsun.
The Samsun Coast Guard DEGAK-1, the Provincial Police Department's Underwater Search and Rescue team, the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, and AFAD Underwater Search and Rescue teams arrived at the scene and took security measures in the Kızılırmak River. D.C., who is separated from his wife, stated that he wanted his 1-year-old son brought to him, otherwise he would throw himself down.

The District Police Department's negotiation teams persuaded D.C. to come down after a 3-and-a-half-hour negotiation. D.C. was taken into a police vehicle and transported to Bafra State Hospital.
It was learned that D.C. had divorced his wife some time ago and that his wife was staying in a women's shelter with their 1-year-old son following a protection request.
