Support for Bülent Ersoy from Nihat Hatipoğlu: She did not mean it as a denial
Nihat Hatipoğlu has come to the defense of Bülent Ersoy following the criticism she received over her remarks regarding funerals. Hatipoğlu stated that Ersoy's words were not a sign of disrespect toward religion, but rather a reaction against a lack of loyalty.
Famous artist Bülent Ersoy had responded to a question regarding recent losses among artists and the lack of loyalty by saying, "I do not want anyone to come to my funeral. I will go on my own."
These words were interpreted by some circles as a sign of disrespect toward religion and funerals. However, Prof. Dr. Nihat Hatipoğlu supported Ersoy, stating that her words were misunderstood.
Hatipoğlu said, "Bülent Ersoy did not say these words with the intention of denial. She gave such a reaction due to a lack of loyalty. People who do not call or ask about you while you are alive, and who do not even say hello, mean nothing when they come to the funeral."
Hatipoğlu also drew attention to the incidents of people taking selfies at the funerals of celebrities and emphasized that respect, decency, and etiquette are important at funerals. By saying, "Let's not turn the funeral into a show; the person in the coffin needs prayers," he expressed that Ersoy showed a justified reaction regarding this issue.
