Support for the Saudis from Doğu Perinçek

While public and political reactions continue against Saudi Arabia, the Turkish Football Federation, and the government due to the scandalous Super Cup final organization, Vatan Party leader Doğu Perinçek launched a barrage of criticism against Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe should have taken the field with banners against US imperialism and Israeli Zionism. Then they would have united heart-to-heart with the Arab people," he said.

Asking questions such as, "Why aren't Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe Kemalists when they go to Germany or France, but they suddenly became Kemalists exactly when Saudi Arabia turned toward good relations with China and Iran?" Perinçek claimed, "We do not see the Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe administrations in Kemalist positions in Turkey. They suddenly became Kemalists in Saudi Arabia. There are those directing them. The Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe administrations have become tools for imperialists who want to drive a wedge between the Turkish nation and Arab countries."

Claiming that Saudi Arabia was in the right, Perinçek continued his post by stating the following:

"Let's understand the event well. Every country has sovereignty. Every country has its own laws. Since you agreed to play a match in Saudi Arabia, you will show respect for that country's sovereignty and laws. You will not fall for the provocations of the US and Israel. Those who are not in a Kemalist position against US imperialism, European imperialism, and Israeli Zionism suddenly became Kemalists against the Arabs. Mustafa Kemal is the hero of the war against Western imperialism and is a friend of Arab countries and their peoples."
