Support for EspressoLab from the Koç family: 'My dear elder...'

Çiğdem Simavi, mother of Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Ali Koç and Koç Holding Board Chairman Ömer Koç, visited EspressoLab, which has been the target of a boycott for days.

She visited the coffee chain and had a coffee at EspressoLab, which was included in the boycott list announced by the CHP on the grounds that it did not provide coverage to the hundreds of thousands of people protesting the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Esat Kocadağ, the owner and founder of EspressoLab, shared those moments on his Instagram account.

CHP leader Özgür Özel had called for a boycott of certain companies on the grounds that they did not provide coverage to the hundreds of thousands of people protesting the arrest of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. The coffee chain EspressoLab was also added to this list. Following this call, AKP politicians and accounts close to the AKP on social media began sharing posts in support of EspressoLab. After the boycott call, EspressoLab founder Esat Kocadağ had said, “We make coffee, not politics. We did not understand why we were boycotted.”

Kocadağ shared his photo with Çiğdem Simavi on Instagram. Kocadağ added the note, “I was very happy to host my dear elder, Ms. Çiğdem Simavi, at Espressolab today.”
