Surprise resignation in the TSK following the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) decisions! General requests retirement

It has been learned that General Kemal Yeni, the 2nd Chief of the General Staff who was appointed as the 3rd Army Commander following the decisions taken at the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) meeting chaired by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has submitted a request for retirement.

According to a report by T24, it was stated that retirement procedures have been initiated for General Yeni.

Within the scope of the YAŞ decisions, the surprise retirement of Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak had drawn attention. General Kemal Yeni, the 2nd Chief of the General Staff who was part of Gürak's closest team at the General Staff, was also reassigned from Ankara to Erzincan under the same decisions. However, information has surfaced in political circles that Yeni submitted a retirement petition to the General Staff following this assignment.

According to information obtained from military sources, it is suggested that General Yeni's decision to retire was influenced by the fact that General Levent Ergün, who is younger than him despite seniority rankings, was moved from the 2nd Army Command in Malatya to become the 2nd Chief of the General Staff.

As is known, General Kemal Yeni had previously served as the Aegean Army Commander before being brought to Ankara as the 2nd Chief of the General Staff after General Metin Gürak became the Chief of General Staff. With Gürak's retirement, Yeni had been appointed to the 3rd Army Command in Erzincan.

If Yeni's retirement request is accepted, a new appointment will need to be made for the vacant 3rd Army Command position in the Turkish Armed Forces.
