Survivor winner announces she is gay
Parvati Shallow, who won the reality competition show Survivor in 2008, has announced that she is gay.
41-year-old Parvati Shallow stated in a post on her Instagram account, "We're here. We're queer. Happy New Year," and shared a photo with 36-year-old comedian Mae Martin with her followers.
In addition to the numerous likes and positive comments on her post, podcast producer and writer Evan Ross Katz commented, "The perfect couple. I'm so happy I had a hand in this love story. Love you both."
Shallow's fans also responded positively to her post with congratulatory messages.
Before coming out as gay, Shallow was in a relationship with fellow Survivor contestant John Fincher, whom she divorced 3 years ago. The couple has one child. Domestic violence was cited as the reason for the couple's divorce.
