Suspect accused of sexually abusing 2 girls in TRNC flees to Southern Cyprus

B.N., a British national living in the city of Kyrenia in the TRNC, alleged that her 64-year-old Turkish Cypriot partner, N.B., sexually abused her 15 and 12-year-old daughters.

Following the incident, the suspect fled to the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus. With the support of Turkish and Greek women's organizations, the British mother also filed a complaint with the Southern Cyprus police. While the children's statements were taken in the presence of Social Services Department officials, arrest warrants were issued for the suspect on both sides.

According to the allegations, the incident came to light when the 12-year-old girl told her 15-year-old sister about what she had experienced. After the older sister alleged that she had been subjected to similar abuse by the same person, the mother, who was not at home at the time, was called back. Mother B.N. went to the police without delay to file a complaint.

In a statement, mother B.N. said, "I will carry out this struggle for all girls in the South and North, and for everyone who does not dare to do so."

"Not just us"

Meanwhile, the girl claimed in a post on her social media account that the suspect, N.B., had abused not only her and her sister but at least three other girls as well. The post also alleged that the suspect took the other sister's passport with him while fleeing to Southern Cyprus, and requested public support for his capture.

The British mother, B.N., stated that she would continue the legal battle she is waging not only on behalf of her own children but on behalf of everyone who has experienced similar events and has been unable to make their voice heard.

Investigations by the TRNC police and the Greek police regarding the incident are ongoing.
