Suspect Cihantimur, whose son is in prison in the US, begins TV program
Bülent Cihantimur, the father of 17-year-old driver Timur Cihantimur—who was determined to have caused the accident in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, that left one person dead and four injured—was questioned as a "suspect" in the case and released under judicial control measures, including a requirement to sign in. Following the 2 million dollar bail request for his son, news has emerged that the father, Cihantimur, is returning to his television program.

On March 1, one of three ATVs traveling in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, broke down. While an attempt was being made to repair the broken-down vehicle pulled to the side of the road, one of two high-speed vehicles traveling in the same direction struck the three ATVs, and Oğuz Murat Aci, one of the five people injured, lost his life.
17-year-old Timur Cihantimur, who caused the death of Oğuz Murat Aci while driving without a license, and his mother Eylem Tok, who fled with him first to Egypt and then to the US, are being tried in the United States.
Timur Cihantimur was apprehended in Boston with his mother on June 14, following Turkey's extradition request.
At the hearing held at the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse in Boston, Judge Donald Cabell ruled that Timur Cihantimur would remain in custody throughout the extradition process.
Appearing before the judge for the second time, Cihantimur's lawyers argued that the conditions of the juvenile detention center in Connecticut where their client is being held are unsuitable, and requested that Cihantimur first be kept under house arrest, or if that is not possible, be transferred to a more suitable location in Massachusetts.
Timur Cihantimur complained about the conditions of the detention center where he is being held in the US and requested to be released on 2 million dollars bail.
Prosecutor Kristen A. Kearney, who objected to the request, stated that there is a possibility that Cihantimur would flee again if released.
At the end of the hearing, which lasted about an hour, Judge Cabell stated that too much information had been shared in the arguments of both sides and that he needed time to evaluate them, deciding that Cihantimur's detention would continue.
TV PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER BAIL REQUEST
Following Timur Cihantimur's complaint about the conditions of the detention center where he is being held in the US and his request for release on 2 million dollars bail, news has emerged that his father, Bülent Cihantimur, is returning to his television program.
Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Bülent Cihantimur had previously appeared on the TLC channel in a program called "Doctor B." Father Cihantimur, who showcased his aesthetic skills in this program, announced that his program would start again as follows:

Father Bülent Cihantimur was present at the scene during the escape of his son and ex-wife.
Ayşe Ceren Saltoğlu, a corporate communications specialist working at Bülent Cihantimur's workplace, was arrested for "aiding and abetting a criminal" and "concealing evidence," while judicial control measures were applied to Cihantimur and A.K., who delivered one of the missing phones of the injured to the police after the accident.
Bülent Cihantimur was able to remain outside the scope of the incident by claiming his vehicle's battery had died.
WHEN HIS VEHICLE'S BATTERY DIED...
Stating that he divorced Eylem Tok 13 years ago, Bülent Cihantimur said, "I have been a physician for 24 years. On the day the accident occurred, I went home and slept after a long surgery. I learned about the accident from a phone call from my ex-wife Eylem Tok. Eylem Tok called me about 1.5 hours after the accident. It was midnight when I received the call. My house is in Mecidiyeköy, very close to the clinic. I immediately took a taxi to the house where my ex-wife Eylem and my son Timur lived together. My son was upstairs, in shock, and not in a condition to speak. Eylem was also walking around the house making phone calls at that time. Since I did not see my son's condition as good, I first wanted to take him for an examination to see if he had any condition requiring emergency intervention. At this time, it was not known to me that there were any injured or dead in the accident. I hung up Eylem's phone and said, 'Let's first understand if Timur, who is in shock, has any health problems requiring emergency intervention, and then let's inform the lawyers since he does not have a license and do what needs to be done.'"
Explaining that he took his son and set out to go to the clinic by driving the electric vehicle that was there himself, Bülent Cihantimur said, "At this time, I saw Ayşe Ceren Saltoğlu, one of our company employees, in the garden. Eylem Tok also got into Ayşe's vehicle and they started following us. Although I tried to talk to Timur on the way, he was closed off to the outside world due to the effect of the accident. At this time, the electric vehicle I was using first gave a warning and then its battery died. The vehicle Eylem was in, which was following us, stopped next to us. We moved Timur to that vehicle and I said to Eylem, 'You go to the clinic, the child is still in shock, I also called our driver Adem, I will come with him right behind you.' Adem came to me, picked me up, and we went to the clinic.
When we went to the clinic, there was no one there. It was at this time that I learned about Eylem's plan to take Timur abroad, the injured in the accident, the scale of the accident, and that a death had occurred. Although I called Eylem many times, she did not answer her phones and finally turned her phone off. My son Timur is 16 years old; he is a child who does not use alcohol or substances and has no bad habits. When my son comes out of the shock he experienced that night, he is a child who will accept being tried in Turkey and paying the legal price for this mistake he made," he said.
