Suspect fleeing accident in Samsun hits police officers: 1 martyred, 1 injured
In the Havza district of Samsun, a traffic police officer was martyred and another was injured after being struck by a car fleeing an accident.
According to the information obtained, police teams took action to stop a car with license plate 55 SA 335 that was fleeing toward Ankara after being involved in an accident in the Toybelen area of the Samsun-Ankara highway.
The Havza Traffic Branch Directorate team took precautions at the University Junction. The car with license plate 55 SA 335, driven by Özgür B., was signaled to stop by police officer Orhan Mutlu. However, the fleeing vehicle struck police officer Orhan Mutlu.

The 46-year-old police officer Orhan Mutlu, who fell onto the police vehicle with license plate 55 A 58629 and then onto the sidewalk due to the impact, was martyred at the scene. The other police officer, Ali Suat Vanlı, who was inside the police vehicle, was also injured. The injured police officer was taken to Havza State Hospital.
The driver, Özgür B., and an individual accompanying him, who fled the scene, were captured and taken into custody by teams from the Havza District Gendarmerie Command.
The body of the martyred police officer Orhan Mutlu was taken to the Havza State Hospital morgue following the crime scene investigation.

It was learned that Orhan Mutlu was originally registered to the Vezirköprü district of Samsun.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
