The Ministry of Interior stated, "Mike Gerner Larsen, who was wanted internationally with an Interpol Red Notice issued by Denmark for the crime of 'Drug Trafficking,' has been captured in Istanbul during the 'KUYU-38' operation."
The following statements were included in the announcement made by the Ministry:
As a result of joint efforts conducted by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Narcotics Crimes Division, Intelligence Branch, and Immigration Smuggling and Border Gates Branch, under the coordination of the Interpol-Europol Department and the Presidency of Migration Management; Mike Gerner Larsen, who was determined to have engaged in extensive cocaine smuggling to Denmark and to have smuggled cocaine into Denmark along with other accomplices, was captured in the Başakşehir district of Istanbul.
Regardless of the notice under which they are wanted, we will not allow international organized crime syndicates or drug traffickers who disturb the peace of our people to find any breathing room. We will capture them one by one and deliver them to justice.
We congratulate our Interpol-Europol Department, our Presidency of Migration Management, and our heroic police officers who carried out the operations.
