Suspect who attacked Atatürk statue detained
A person named Canan B., who attempted to damage an Atatürk statue with a stone in the Pınarhisar district of Kırklareli, has been detained by the police.
Canan B., who carried out a stone attack on the statue of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk located in Republic Square in the Pınarhisar district of Kırklareli, has been detained.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at approximately 20:50. Citizens who saw Canan B. attempting to damage the Atatürk statue reacted to the situation. Police teams arrived at the scene quickly, detained Canan B., and took her to the police station.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
In a statement made by the Kırklareli Governor's Office, it was stated that Canan B. has a psychiatric condition and has been receiving treatment at hospitals in different provinces from time to time since 2015.
The Governor's Office statement said, "Necessary proceedings have been initiated regarding the individual who attempted to damage the statue of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic."
